Hello gentlemen, welcome to the Lichfield Conservative Club for the match against Harrisons of Great Wryley.

As half of the Cons team were ready to leave at 9.30pm for a visit across to Ireland for a fishing trip, it could be though there mind's were well and truely on the Guiness and fish suppers, but in a close early contest Harrisons didn't get it all their own way.

The new signing of "Big Ade" Hammersly making his debut made a fist of it from the off and good scoring from Ade and Kevin made for an exciting match which was added too by doubles missed right at the end by both players exciting the crowd. After Kevin took the first leg he missed shots to take the second and Big Ade clocked 50 to level the scores. Both players scored well again and both had shots in the third and fourth legs but it was Big Ade that held his nerve and took the match 3-1. Kevin scored 4 x 100+ with a 19.03avg while Big Ade also hit 4 x 100+ with a 18.99avg MOM

Then for the match up of the night - Danny Colye against Billy Austin, and it looked as if Bill needed to get on that ferry to Ireland asap as he didn't hang around!  Both players scored fantastic and with the scores at 1-1 both players had hit the big scores and Harrisons were wobbling! Some great darts from Danny including a 180 forced himself into the driving seat even though Bill was still hitting the high scores. Danny hung on to secure the win 3-1 with 180 and 5 tons 25.17avg - Bill with 8 tons 23.78avg Great game and have a great time Bill and Big Ade on the Emerald Isle!

Next game saw Neil Pointon, who usually talks a good game, actually play a good game! The result was never in doubt as a 180 and 4 x 100 saw him clinically finish off poor Colin Wilson who himself hit a few good scores but Neil was too strong as one leg he chipped out in 14 darts. His avg 26.36 against Colin's 16.79avg

The game was won for Harrisons by Jason Gilbert in the next match who finished well without really hitting the highlife. Young Chris Silk was his opponent who usually takes no prisoners but was a little out of sorts this evening himself. Jason hit 4 x 100 with an average of 23.12 while Chris hit 2 x 100's and a 18.43avg for a 3-0 win

Last game of the evening saw the new signing for Harrisons Richard "Tricky Love" Platt (who had a fantastic game last week but lost out to Simon from Chadsmoor Prog) against Mark James. This evening "the Trickster" had the bit between his teeth and something to prove! Dam he's good! After a first leg of 25 darts, he powered the next in 17, then after 135, 140, 180 missed doubles for 11 and 12 darts eventually clocking out in 13 for the best leg of the evening and MOM. He finished with 180 + 6 x 100's and a 27.32avg. Mark had 4 x 100's and an average of 20.42 and played well dispite the powerful show from Tricky Love.

So final score 4-1 to the visitors Harrisons, a great night, great company and of course, great food as usual!

Best of luck to Lichfield Cons for the rest of the season and see you down our place next year!

CASTLE B Vs EMERALD CLUB.

Hello, good evening and welcome. Yes, it’s time for another fulfilment of joy and torture, with a twist of irony, from the only super league that gives you that “yeah” feeling!
 Tonight we’ve travelled, this time to a place that proudly boasts that you’ll always feel welcome. Suits me, sir.
 If you haven’t guessed, it’s the Castle B.
First the team news. I feel that I must do something this time, as the last report I didn’t tell a lot. Well, where do you start? The gangs all here, Whizz, Tiger, Badger, Honey Monster, Hitman and of course TC. There is a change to the normal line up, the person you have grown to know as Wafer is no longer, well when I say no longer, I mean in the name only. Mark Harvey is still playing for us, but now I will refer to him as “Railings”. Oh yeah, one more thing, we have a new player. I am very pleased to announce Ian Leighton will be providing us with his skills.
 As for the Castle, how nice it is to see some old familiar faces. With the likes of; Ant and Geoff, the return of Johnny and Criss (that’s how it is written on the score sheet) to their old hunting ground.
 Here’s a thought, have you ever seen Criss Seward and Terry Thomas in the same room?
If you don’t know who Terry Thomas is, ask Danny Coyle, he’s about the same age.
O.K. enough said, on with the report. So, the draws done and here’s what happened;

The first game was taken by the visiting side. Tiger Harrison, recovering from a shoulder injury, although didn’t look comfortable, made a steady game of it. His opponent, Eamon Gormley, could’ve played a lot better but maybe the first leg wore him out, well it was 33 darts. After that it got a lot quicker. Jim showed signs of his normal self, taking out 82 in three darts in the second. Other than that, just another average game.

The second game was much like the first, a visitors win. Unlike the first, there were a lot more red scores. Unfortunately for Johnny Brindley, Badger Wright had been drinking the correct Dutch courage. With an impressive 8 tons and tons pluses in three legs, stood him in good stead to take a comfortable win. Johnny obviously found the throw difficult, only hitting 2 red scores in the entire three legs, and they were both in the 3rd. You can only feel that being the person Johnny is, he will grow stronger on this loss, and god help whoever he meets next.

The third was definitely the epic of the night; Criss Seward Vs Simon “Hitman” Astle.
This was to go all five legs. With a maximum in the first leg, Criss let the wind whistle through the gap in his front teeth when he allowed his beaming smile to protrude after completing a 14 dart leg, leaving Simon on 97. The 2nd and 3rd were taken by Simon, without the aid of any maximums, making his own stand that he is ready to take on any further roles, like a county place maybe! The fourth leg, and after Criss misses tops with his last dart, Simon reduces his score down to 106. Needless to say, it wasn’t quite good enough, and with his second dart, Criss makes it all square. The final leg goes to show what two decent players can do. Both throwers hit two red scores, and after taking only one more dart than his opponent, Simon finishes his remaining 40 to take the win, leaving Criss on the same score. Good match.
 On the flip side, the scorer provided a side of entertainment that you don’t usually see. I don’t think a pair of glasses could have helped maybe a calculator or a change of marker. I’m just glad that tipex wasn’t used, simply because the chalk board would have been totally white by the end of the match. I only hope it didn’t put the players off!
Only practise can provide the level of marking that makes a “chalker” invisible, but it’s the on lookers’ patience and perseverance that helps. Gods knows we ALL make mistakes.

 The fourth game was between; Ant Wharton and Trev “TC” Carter.
This was another five leg game. For the first time, in a long time, it was to go all the way with throw. The trouble for TC was that it was Ant’s throw. To look on paper, Ant definitely deserved the game; he hit more red scores, he was more accurate and what’s more, he’s uglier than TC and he is over due a win. O.K. That last bit was a lie, but the first bit, all true. TC let himself down, on the legs he did win; he converted with just one dart. It was the others, every time he missed, Ant jumped in and recovered well. A much deserved win for Ant.

And finally, the finale, Geoff Taylor Vs Tim “Whizz” Whiston.
This was a definitive win for the away player. With all the will in the world I don’t think that Geoff could have predicted the way Tim would score and in contrast, the way Geoff himself wouldn’t. Hitting a very impressive 9 tons and ton pluses throughout the 3 legs played, it was only the finishing that let the average down for Whizz. On the flip side, although Geoff didn’t hit as many red scores as Tim, he just wasn’t on top form to provide a good enough clash. But then again, I feel it was just one of those games.

Final score;
                                       CASTLE B 1 – 4 EMERALD CLUB.

So, the Emerald Club get their first win of the season. So far, so good. Lets hope it continues. I do have to say unlucky to the Castle B, they are a cracking squad, it just didn’t add up on the night.

So now the averages;

Castle B; E.Gormley, 16.18. J.Brindley, 21.21. C.Seward, 26.81. A.Wharton, 20.23. G.Taylor, 18.90.
Emerald Club; J.Harrison, 19.26. P.Wright, 25.91. S.Astle, 27.40. T.Carter, 22.82. T.Whiston, 23.12.

M.O.M. A.Wharton, S.Astle.
180. C.Seward.
So with this all done, all that’s left to say is;
Good luck, good darts and good bye.
Yours, TC.

Ted then hit another 2 x 100+ scores in the second leg, but this went to Dan in 27 darts, Ted took the 3rd leg with a nice 67 in 3 finish, before he raced away again hitting another 3 x 100+ scores, but this time needing 18 darts to eventually win and give the Eagle the points.
