With his confidence now brimming, the fourth and what was to be the final leg saw Doug score 99, 97, 140, 105, 60/3 for a tremendous 15 dart leg putting The Hart within a sniff of victory.
Third on Craig Stretch took on Steve Wild, with Steve coasting to an easy 3 - 0 white wash over his opponent who it would appear had never played darts before with a very under par performance. EMERALD CLUB Vs WHITE HORSE.
Hello, good evening and welcome. Yes, it’s that time again, the time where you know you should be doing something that’s more constructive, like checking your aerial in the back of your T.V. or making your bed correctly, but you just can’t be bothered. Just be careful, it could all go inside out right before your eyes.
 Well, I hope you all have had a great week, practising your throwing technique and doing your arithmetic home work. People like Danny “Colonel” Coyle have been brought up with counting; 12 pieces of chicken and 4 fries and 2 cola’s all for the princely sum of? Unlike poor old Neil Pointon, he used to count his teeth. . . . now he’s got an extra 5 mins a day to polish his ring??!!
 Sorry, I wish I had never said that, I’ve got the most worst picture in my head which, I know I’ll have night mares tonight, followed by a few visits to the local shrink.
 Anyway, to change the subject and hopefully forget the last statement, if only for a while; this evening we are the hosts to possibly the youngest team in the super league. If you didn’t know these guys, and they walked into the room you would be forgiven by thinking that they had come from the primary school next door. An innocent mistake, but in reality it’ll never happen, I am, of course, just jealous. My only comfort is that of all the mistakes I made when I was their age and all of the experience I have gained in life, I haven’t passed any on to them, let them make all the mistakes; they’re young enough.
 If you haven’t guessed yet, we are playing the White Horse.
First the team news; well tonight we’re bare five, Whizz has managed to complete all the homework marking he needed to; Tiger has given up on the duct-tape hair removal, not that it didn’t work, he just needs so much of it, it’s costing him a fortune; Hitman has made it, fresh from the hair implant clinic. Oh, yeah for months now he’s been visiting the “Goldie locks and the three hairs” scalp treatment salon, and it appears to be working! Railings is also here; apparently he had a mishap in the week, he was stood reading the paper in the street and someone chained their bike to him. It might be a tad uncomfortable, but he now can get to work in record time. Doorways are a bit of a problem though, now he’s part human, part bike. Ian Leighton couldn’t make it tonight. Something to do with a bad shoulder, I knew that the bear wrestling would back fire on him! Another person who couldn’t be with us tonight is Badger; since he had his hair cut a couple of weeks ago, it’s like he has found a new lease of life. I am really worried, well let’s face it, at his age new found energy can be lethal. He has now gone to the North Sea to drill for gas, he has even taken his 14v cordless drill with him, so you know he means business. I am, as always, present and as wonderful as ever.
Figure 1Paul on his way for the drill of his life.

So with the draw done, here’s what happened;
The first match was between; Jim “Tiger” Harrison and Peter Toddington.
In this, a 3 leg match, we saw 9 tons and ton pluses and a wonderful 125 finish.
Although Peter came away with the loss, after the match he said he played rubbish, well in the middle leg he was left a bit high and dry, but in the 1st leg he did have his chances and the 3rd leg Tiger didn’t give him shot at the 86 he had remaining. On the flip side Jim played a steady game, not the brilliant standard we are used to but the winning finish was worth the wait.
The second pair were; Trev “TC” Carter Vs James Toddington.
The first leg only sees one red score, a 137 off James. Nothing much else happens really apart from TC found out that he can still hit his double. The 2nd leg and TC finds that he can’t hit his double and James can, and this leg was shorter than the first. The next two legs are won by TC, who it has to be said, was pushed to the line by James. When James came off the oche, he was like his relative, thinking he could’ve played better than he did. Well we all think that mate, only it’s hard to do under your own pressure.
 Next on the oche are; Tim “Whizz” Whiston Vs Mark Van Pattern.
This was to be another 4 leg match, with Whizz becoming the winner. But he didn’t have it all his own way; Mark took the second leg from under Tim’s feet, that’ll TEACH him. The next two legs we’re a little easier for Tim to win, simply because Mark failed to hit any red scores and Whizz did, including a maximum in the last. You just feel Tim did just enough to survive, this can be dangerous.
Fourth up are; Mark “Railings” Harvey Vs Baden “Bad-un” Toddington.
This match was to go all five legs and if you just looked at the score sheet, the home sides part looked black and white, while the away sides looked multicoloured. By the way that Baden scored it really should’ve been all over in three legs, but after a lot of no-scores in the first two, it was Mark who sat 2-0 up. The turn around came in the 3rd leg, when Baden finally found the double, Mark wasn’t that far behind. 4th leg and Mark can’t get it together, and while he’s doing this Baden hits a maximum, just to rub salt into the wound. The last leg, no-body could’ve foreseen. Baden had the rubbish start and Mark just clicked, at the other end of the leg, Mark couldn’t finish and Baden came down to grab the win, remarkable.
 The fifth and final match of the evening was between; Simon “Hitman” Astle and Ian “Smudger” Smith.
 This, again, was to go all the way. The only twist with this match was; the first four legs were won against the throw. This meant that after 4 legs, 177 darts thrown and 13 tons and ton pluses; it was all square. This is were it all went Pete tongue! Although Simon came close he only actually hit one red score, meanwhile Ian managed one better and after Simon had a no-score on his double, Smudger did what he like’s to do best; win!

Final score;
EMERALD CLUB 3 – 2 WHITE HORSE.

So, another close call. We simply are riding our luck out this season. I am only glad that our opponents are playing as bad as ourselves.
On a private note; Mark Harvey had been called away during this evening because his daughter had had an accident, I am pleased to say she is fine and none the wiser to her injuries. You’re a lot braver than me, Sky.
