GLASSHOUSE Vs EMERALD CLUB.

Hello, good evening and welcome. Yes, it’s me again, are you ready for another instalment of the greatest super league in the world? Well tough, you might not know it but now you’ve logged on, you can get away. Is it you who I mention this week? Or can you use the info to get back at some one! You’ll have to read on to find out.
  Tonight we travelled out to the other side of the red town of Cannock. To a place which is more uncommonly known as in the middle of the south Staffordshire triangle. The other two points of the triangle being Burntwood and Great Wyrley.
  As you turn off the road and park your vehicle, you are faced with a corner establishment. At first glance, there is nothing special, but when you enter the premises there is a warmth that you can only enjoy from the start. All the punters are friendly and make you feel extremely welcome. We are of course, at the Glass House.
  First the team news. Well, where do I start? The usual guys are here; Whizz, Tiger, Badger, Hitman, Railings, Honey Monster, TC, and of course Ian. Yeah, I know, it doesn’t sound brilliant does it? Can any one give me a good nick name for Ian Leighton?
  That’ll do for now, and so on to the match.
With the draw done, this is what happened;
First to toe the oche was; Gareth Preece Vs Tim “WHIZZ” Whiston.
This was to be a three leg match, with the away side the victors. If you were looking for the “big average” game, then I wouldn’t bother. But what this was, was a battle of wits. Although Tim found the red scores a few times, he also found the lesser scores a little too frequent to settle into the comfort zone. His opponent, on the other hand, didn’t have too many red scores, but when he could, sixty pluses were on the menu.
 Second up; Dan Taylor Vs Simon “Hitman” Astle.
This match was to use all five legs. (Talk about getting your monies worth). The first leg went to Dan, with his opponent sitting on 25. The 2nd leg was retrieved by Simon. Yes, he did play better, but Dan just seemed to sit this one out. An incredibly poor leg saw Dan being left with 267 when Simon hit his double. The 3rd and Dan had come out of his coma, scoring a maximum with his first three darts, he was well on his way. Simon didn’t reply much, hitting a high of 76 before finding his own maximum to bring the score line level. Even after this, no-one could guess who would win. Another 15 darts and it was Dan who grabbed the double to take the lead for the second time in this match. The fourth leg and all is even, until Simon hits a 123 to take a slight leap ahead. This turned out to be enough and he made it all square, 2-2. The final leg and Simon sets off in the right direction with 4 red scores in the first 12 darts, but his finishing let him down once more and Dan was able to catch him up with ease. After a lot of nail biting off both teams, Simon managed to glide an arrow into the double to become the winner.
 Third up are; Scott Dryhurst Vs Trev “TC” Carter.
This was to be another three leg game. The victor was TC. This wasn’t a brilliant game of darts, but then again it is the first time these two teams have met each other. TC did enough to keep the lead in all the legs and fend off his opponent. Scott didn’t have the game he was hoping for, but it was probably an off day. Still he is still quite young and that’s one thing a lot of us haven’t got on our side any more, have we Mr. Coyle.
 The forth game saw; Chris Allan Vs Paul “Badger” Wright.
This was to be a 4 leg match. It was Paul who came out on top, stunning his opponent with two 17 darters, one in the first leg and one in the last leg. The middle two were a bit on the lengthy side, and in the 3rd leg, after Paul couldn’t hit his double; Chris hit a marvellous 94 to take the match further. Good game though.
 The last game of the night saw; Colin Robinson Vs Jim “Tiger” Harrison.
This was another 3 leg match. Jim became the out right winner. Colin did have a good game, but his in-between scores let him down. Jim had an average first two legs, and then converted 51 in two darts to complete a 17 dart leg. Colin didn’t see much of this one, and was probably very happy to get off the oche after being left with 336. Looks like Jim’s shoulder is almost 100%.
 Final score;
                              GLASSHOUSE 0 – 5 EMERALD CLUB.

So, another win for the Emerald. You could say we had too stronger side out, but as I mentioned early, this was the first time we had met these guys and well, you only have to treat your opponent with contempt once and before you know it, it’s all over. I am sure these players will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

Just before we go onto the stats, next Thursday there is no super league game. Well it’s my birthday and if you want to come down to the Emerald Club you will be more than welcome. We might even have a little money in money out knock-out, if there’s enough players!
And so the stats;
Averages.
Glasshouse. G.Preece, 16.74. D.Taylor, 16.66. S.Dryhurst, 17.16. C.Allan, 18.37. C.Robinson, 16.92.
Emerald. T.Whiston, 20.04. S.Astle, 20.30. T.Carter, 24.24. P.Wright, 23.46. J.Harrison, 22.77.
180. D.Taylor, S.Astle.
M.O.M. C.Allan, T.Carter.

All that’s left to say is;
Good luck, good darts and good bye.
Yours, TC.

Royal Oak v Harrisons WMC

The opening game matched up Phil Harpur against his old teammate Dave "Wizard of Oz" Platt and after a bad start from Phil the leg burst into life with big scores from both players, Dave 3x100,81 Phil 135,85,70 but Dave at the double first made no mistake to take the leg in 18 darts. The next leg saw Dave in consummate form hitting 100,100,100,177 then taking out 24/2 for a 14 dart leg with Phil scoring well but still needing 109. Dave was always in front in the final leg with 1x100 & 1x140 but scores of 1x140 & 97 pushed Phil into a position to respond if given the chance. Dave finished 20/2 in 20 darts to take the game 3-0. Dave 1x177 1x140 7x100 Avg 28.90 MOM  Phil 1x140 1x135 1x100 Avg 24.29

The second game paired up Andy Edwards against the pride of Harrisons Richard "Tricky Love" Platt! Andy started the game well with 85,100 but The Trickster was in fine form again starting 100,136,105 then clicked the wire of double tops just missing a 160 finish. He did finish off the leg 40/2 to take the leg in 14 darts. The second leg could have gone either way with both players struggling to find the sixty bed and Tricky Love failing to get his dart into the right bed to finish the leg. In the end of a nail biter, Tricky plopped in double 10 to take the leg in 33 darts. The final leg saw Tricky back on the juice as he hammered in 100,100 then a 180 before clicking the wire of double 18 on his 121 attempt with Andy responding with 100,83. Trickster hit 18/3 to take the leg in 15 darts and the match 3-0.  Richard 1x180 8x100+  Avg 24.24  Andy 1x121 2x100  Avg 18.50

Next up was a game that could have gone either way as Mac Phipps excelled against a below par Neil "Gollum" Pointon. Mac started well will scores of 100,85,81,140 and Neil had nothing in response, failing to hit a solitary T60 and with time on his side Mac clocked out hitting double tops at the first attempt to take the leg in 22 darts. Neil did fine form in the second leg hitting 95,85,140,82 and finally took the leg in 22 darts after missing a number of doubles- Mac's only response was a 140. The third leg and Mac played a blinder despite Neil having the darts. Mac scored 140,100,100 finally taking the leg out in 21 darts with Neil playing his part 100,95,100 but not getting a shot. Mac again started really well 100,100 and other scores giving him shots at the match but Neil hung on in and despite only 1x100 shot out 76 to level it 2-2. Last leg and both players wanted it Neil 83,97,136 looked to be in the driving seat but then capitulated letting Mac fight back 140,85,81,70 and clock out 56/2 for the best leg of the match in 20 darts and the match 3-2. Well done Mac unlucky Gollum.  Neil 1x140 1x136 3x100 Avg 21.36  Mac 4x140 5x100 Avg 21.68 MOM

With the score at 2-1 Dan Mason took on Jason Gilbert and both players scored well. The first leg Dan hit 85,100,100 with Jason starting with 100,100,100,96 and after missing the 105 out shot Jason finished off 40/3 to take the first leg in 18 darts. The second leg again both players were well into their scoring power as Dan hit 81,100,85,85, with Jason responding well with 85 and a 180 clocking 16/1 to take the leg in 22 darts. The final leg and Dan hit great scores but just failed with the double after hitting 100,81,100,99, - Jason took the leg in 16 darts with 100,140,100 and the match to Harrison. Great game lads. Jason 1x180 1x140 5x100 Avg 26.84  Dan 5x100 Avg 23.16

In the final match Les Till came up against the Col Sanders lookalike Danny "Chunk" Coyle. Danny led from the off taking the first leg on a 120 finish and the leg in 21 darts with Les contributing only 1x100. The second leg and Danny hit sweet street bashing in a 13 dart leg 140,140,140,41,40/1 to put him in a comfortable lead but the last leg could have gone either way as Danny lost his concentration after 100,85,100 and Les hit some great scores 100,85,87 to get himself a shot but Danny hung on to take the leg in 27 darts and the match 3-0. Danny 3x140 3x100 Avg 24.64  Les 2x100 Avg 18.23

A good match at the Royal Oak and Harrisons look forward to seeing you later in the season - best of luck!
