Welcome 2 White
Eagle 3
The Eagle gained a valuable
two points at the expense of the home side; it has to be said though,
the win was a somewhat hollow victory, with many thanks going to home
player Jason Lavender!!!
Jason opened with 3 consecutive 100’s in the 1st leg, which he
won in 19 darts with Ted Dodd waiting on 70. The 2nd leg was close,
with Jason going 2 up in 24 darts, this after Ted had hit 140 and failing
to take out 50, the 3rd leg saw Ted hit another 140 and bust on 101,
however, both players then had 6 darts to win it, with the leg going
to Ted. The 4th leg saw Superted put in an appearance, hitting 2 x 140
and levelling the scores in 19 darts, Jason also hit 2 x 140 but was
left waiting on 8. The decider sees Jason hit 2 tons to Ted’s
one, but a few 80’s sees Ted keep the leg competitive, Jason just
fails to take out 71 and SuperTed takes the spoils with Double 8 for
a 24 darter.
Jason; 2 x 140 & 5 x 100, average, 22.09.
Ted; 4 x 140 and 2 x 100, average, 21.23 (MoM).
The second game and Joe Hutchins levels the scores with a 3-0 win against
Paul Fletcher, he hits 100 in the 1st leg and takes it in just 21 darts,
with Fletch hitting 2 x 100 left waiting on 76. A couple of tons sees
Joe take control of the 2nd leg, which he takes in 20 darts, Joe then
hits 3 x 100 in the 3rd leg, as he completes the win in 24 darts.
Joe; 6 x 100+ scores, average, 23.12 (MoM)
Fletch; 2 x 140 and 2 x 100, average, 20.85.
Bj Paget had to come from behind and beat Simon Pearce 3-1 to give the
home side the lead, a 98 in 2 finish saw Simon take the 1st leg in 20
darts. He then hit 2 x 100 in the 2nd leg, with BJ hitting 3 tons, but
both players struggled to hit their doubles (maybe it was the disturbance
in the back ground), BJ eventually taking the leg. The 3rd leg’s
a cracker with both players hitting 100 and 140 with their 1st six darts,
with the leg going to BJ in just 16 darts, with Simon waiting on 36.
A 140 by BJ sees him win the game with a 21 dart 4th leg.
BJ; 8 x 100+ scores, average, 22.29.
Simon; 7 x 100+ scores, average, 21.06.
The 4th game and Poppa Powell levels the scores with a 3-1 success over
Kieran O’Mahony, no red scores for either player in the 1st leg,
with Poppa taking it in 25 darts, with Kieran waiting on 32. The 2nd
leg and Poppa opens with 125 & 121, with Kieran hitting 3 scores
in the 80’s, and it’s Kieran who takes it in 24, with this
time Poppa waiting on 32. The 4th leg and both players hit a 140 and
100, with Kieran first to his double, but missing, and Poppa proudly
takes out 80 in 3. The 4th leg and the game goes to Poppa in 20 darts,
hitting 140 and 101.
Kieran; 3 x 100+ scores, average, 20.22.
Poppa; 6 x 100+ scores, average, 21.20.
The final game of the night is between Lee Hodgkiss and Spencer Trow
and goes the distance, with all of the legs going with the darts. Spence
hit 2 x 100+ scores and takes the 1st leg in 25 darts, Lee then pops
in a 135 to level the scores with a 26 darter, the 3rd legs close, with
Spence hitting 100 and 121, and Lee 125, who has first chance to finish,
but leaves 15 and Spence coolly checks out on 34 for a 23 dart leg.
The 4th leg and Lee’s in control, hitting 100 and just missing
a 170 checkout, leaving 25, which he takes out next throw for a 21 dart
leg. The final leg of the night is very close, with Lee hitting 2 x
100 and Spence one ton and a couple of 90’s, Lee misses the chance
to take out 51 and Spence hits double top in one for a 22 darter, and
the points go to the Eagle.
Lee; 6 x 100+ scores, average, 21.33.
Spence; 6 x 100+ scores, average, 20.91.
A win for the White Eagle
but a hollow one, with the home side’s captain apologising to
the White Eagle, but I have to say the apology should be made by the
person involved, not only to the White Eagle, but also to his own team
and the Welcome club in general for letting them down?

Steve Wild put the Arms on
the way with a 3-0 win over Mark Preece, no red scores in the 1st leg

tons in the 2nd leg for a 26 darter, with Mark left on tops. The 3rd

hitting 2 x 100 and left waiting on 60, the second leg and both score
well, but they make a hash of finishing, with Russell hitting double

give his side an unassailable lead, Dan hits 3 x 100+ scores in the

in 25 darts. With the advantage of the darts, Dan hits 2 x 100 in the
2nd leg, and levels in 27 darts, the 3rd leg and Steve not messing about,
he opens with 3 consecutive 100+ scores for an excellent 18 dart leg.
The Fourth leg and Dan’s in command, hitting, 140 and 2 x 100
and he levels the scores with a 20 dart leg. Steve keeps his composure
and takes the game in the 5th leg, hitting 100 and 121, checking out
n 57 in 3 for a 21 darter.

Chris who takes the 1st leg in 26 darts. The 2nd leg and Dave opens
with two consecutive 100’s, and he wins the leg in 22 darts, finishing
on double ten, the 3rd leg and Chris regains the lead, hitting 125,
and taking it in 23 darts, and this despite ‘The Landlord’
opening with 140 and 100 and left waiting on 10. The 4th leg sees Chris
hit 5 x 60 and 100, but he fails to hit double 8 and Dave checks out
on 32 for a 25 darter. The decider and both players hit 100, and Chris
is first to his double, but again he fails to finish and Dave takes

Chris Stanley gave his side
a fantastic start, inflicting the first defeat of the season on Andy
Stevenson (3-1), it looked business as usual as Andy opened with a maximum,
but Chris hit, 2 x 100 and 140 as he won the 1st leg in just 17 darts,
with Andy on 40. The second leg and Chris produces yet another 17 darter,
this time hitting, 140 , 100 and 119, With Andy sitting on 20 after
15 darts, hitting 100 and 140 and his last shot 94 (did he miss tops?).
the 3rd legs as exciting as the 1st two, with both players hitting 3
x 100+ scores, but this time Andy checks out in 19 darts, with Chris
left waiting on 25 (did he miss the bull?), the 4th leg’s almost
tame, with only 1 x 100+ each, but it goes to Chris in 24 darts, with

top, and Lyndon finished on 20 for a 25 darter, to go 2 up. Scott then

Eamon Gormley put
the visitors ahead with a 3-2 win against Simon Wiggan, both players
hit a couple of tons apiece in the 1st leg, but both struggled to finish
and Simon took it in 29 darts. Eamon levels with a 23 dart leg, finishing
on 40 in 2, he then takes the 3rd leg in 22 darts. Simon hits 100 and
checks out on 52 in 2 to take the 4th leg, this after Eamon had hit
140 and 123 but was let down by his finishing. The decider and Eamon
rolls of scores of 100, 140, 100 and 95, but he needs another 12 darts
to take the game in 27 darts, with Simon, waiting on 20.
Simon; 5 x 100+ scores, average, 19.29.
Eamon; 8 x 100+ scores, average, 20.16.

he won the 1st leg in 29 darts, with Ant already having had a shot at
his double. The 2nd leg goes to Ant in 27 darts, with George having
missed, double ten, the 3rd legs best of all, with both players hitting
100, George takes out a fantastic 138 for an 18 darter. George then
hit 140 and 100 in the 4th leg, but Ant scores well and takes it in
24 darts. The decider goes to George after Ant failed to take out 25
with six darts.
George; 6 x 100+ scores, average, 20.79.

leg and Steve hits 110 and 125 as he wins the game in just 17 darts.
Andre!!; 1 x 100, average, 19.47.
Steve; 4 x 100+ scores, average, 22.77 (MoM).
Jimmy Riddle levels the scores with a 3-2 win against John Brindley,
to be honest the 1st leg could have been better, with Jim taking it
in 35 darts. Jim then hit 140 as he went 2up with a 25 dart leg, with
Ticker left waiting on 16, the 3rd leg and Ticker’s in a mean
mood, banging in 3 x 100+ scores and a couple of 60’s for a 17
darter, with Jim sitting on 53. Both players then pop in a 100 in the
4th leg, which goes to Ticker in 27 darts. The decider’s disappointing,
both players hit 100, but that was it and after both had 9 darts to
win it, it goes to Jim in 36 darts (ouch)?
Jim; 2 x 100 and 2 x 140, average, 17.20.
Ticker; 5 x 100+ scores, average, 17.75.
The final game of the night sees Chris Seward beat John Lucas 3-2 to
give the Castle the points, John’s first to the double in the
1st leg, hitting 125, with Chris hitting, 100 and 140, but John fails
to take out 23 with 6 darts and Chris steals it with double 19 for a
25 darter. The 2nd leg and Chris hits, 100, 140 and 135 and is on a
double after just 15 darts, be he fails to take it with 6 darts and
this time John steals it with a brilliant 109 finish. Chris opens with

out tops for a 22 dart leg and give his side the points.
ROYAL OAK Vs EMERALD
CLUB.
Hello, good evening and welcome. I trust you all have had a good week.
If you think you haven’t, then let me remind you that the schools
are off next week, so there will be nothing but children everywhere!
All the parents that aren’t off will dumping their kids on the
grandparents; so now you know what Danny Coyle will be up to next week,
we’ll continue with the report.
Tonight we’re
away at a venue far, far away. No, not quite in never, never land, but
close. We’re at a town so far in the south west of Staffordshire,
that we all took our passports just in case. We were going to send Tim
Whiston in a car plastered with homophobic slogans to see if he got
chased out of town, but we thought better of it!
Of course we didn’t, I’m only joking! The public house we
are playing at is a very welcoming establishment, with lovely beer too
boot. If you haven’t guessed, we were at the Royal Oak.
First the team
news; once again we were without Ian Leighton, his shoulder is still
putting him out of action, still he can relax in the fact that the bears
that he wrestles will be going into hibernation soon. Honeymonster is
still on his first aid course, he soon will be taking his exams. I don’t
hold out on him passing though, someone asked him for “something
for a hangover” he replied with “a good session the night
before”! Whizz is with us though, fresh in the thought of a week
off all the papers he hasn’t got to mark. Tiger is also present.
You can always tell when it’s getting closer to winter; Jim’s
second coat starts to get thicker. Hitman is with us once more. Now
he is pondering on buying a hat to keep his investment intact. Railings
is also with us, although I’m getting worried about his increasing
use of WD40, the amount he is going through can’t be healthy.
Badger is back, just for this week. He had to return almost empty handed,
I say almost; he did have his drill, but as he walked in he was muttering
something about the battery running low and he had no where to re-charge
it. TC is, as you would think, in perfect condition as ever.
So without further
ado, here’s what happened;
The first game was
between Mac Phipps and Trev “TC” Carter.
This was to be a 3 leg match, with the away player the winner. Having
said this, it was a good game. Mac didn’t let go all the way through
the match and TC couldn’t for one second let his guard down. In
all three legs, Mac was sat on a 2 darter, all it would have taken was
his opponent to slip up and it could have all gone in an opposite direction.
TC’s first 3 darts were a maximum, but this didn’t deter
Mac, what a fighter.
The second match was between; Neil “smiler” Clark and Tim
“Whizz” Whiston.
This match used all five legs; all of which went with the throw. Yes,
although this means that the home player won, it was a match with a
lot of spice. The first leg was a tad on the lengthy side; I suppose
both players were just warming up! After this, well, each time one of
the throwers toed the oche to finish his leg; the other was sitting
on a double. Tim showed, in the fourth leg, that he has not lost his
nerve. While Neil was waiting to return to the oche to hit the double
18 he had deliberately left himself, Tim was standing in front of the
board knowing the 108 he left was a must. 3 immaculately placed darts
made the match go all the way to the fifth leg. Even this was nail biting,
neither player hit a red score but it was still very, very close. Neil
eventually got the upper hand and took the win, and the M.O.M. (insert)
Good game guys.
The 3rd match was between; Jim Wright and Simon “Hitman”
Astle.
This was another 3 leg match which saw the away player take the win,
but you couldn’t say it was in style. All the legs were on the
lengthy side, which showed in the averages, and the home player was
left looking on when all he needed himself was a double. Jim fought
well throughout this match, and in hindsight, if he had only scored
one or two more tons, it may have been all different. Nice quick game
though!
4th on the oche are; Dan Mason Vs Jim “Tiger” Harrison.
In this, a four leg match, it saw the home player, Dan, take the first
leg with Jim sitting on an almost identical score. This, as in previous
weeks, awakens Jim. Tiger then goes on to take the next 3 legs in this
match. Although, once again, they are on the slightly longer side. This
is probably only to be expected when a player has been treated like
a hot potato. The second leg, Jim stormed it; the 3rd leg and it was
back to being very tight indeed; and the 4th Dan was sitting on 106
as Jim hit the winning double.
The final game was between; Gordon Cooper and Paul “Badger”
Wright.
This, like the last, was a four leg match. Also like the last, the away
player loses the 1st leg. But in hindsight, Badger is of the age where
it takes a while for the body to realise it is being used. We should
have realised when Paul slipped out of his plug-in feet warmers and
cardigan just before the match. The next three legs were a joy to watch.
Two 19 darters, and finishing off with a 14 darter was just the icing
on the cake. This doesn’t mean Gordon just stood and watched,
oh no, the 2nd and 3rd legs he was sitting on finishes. The 4th maybe
a little to ambitious to think he may have finished but he did fight
well. Unlucky Gordon, you just happened to meet a player on a little
form.
Final score;
ROYAL OAK 1 – 4 EMERALD CLUB.
So, at last a good
win. And against a decent side too boot. There is not a bone in my body
that even dislikes the Royal Oak, but I am so glad we had a good win
against them. They really are a side who can turn and bite you in the
rear when you’re not concentrating.
Just a quick thanks to Kim, he had the really hard job of doing the
paper work tonight. God he works hard, doesn’t he? By the way,
ever seen Sid Little and Kim (insert) in the same room?
And so, on to the stats;
Averages;
Royal Oak. M.Phipps, 22.63. N.Clark, 23.92. J.Wright, 19.63. D.Mason,
18.95. G.Cooper, 18.58.
Emerald. T.Carter, 24.64. T.Whiston, 20.94. S.Astle, 19.78. J.Harrison,
20.98. P.Wright, 26.23.
M.O.M. N.Clark, P.Wright.
180’s. N.Clark, T.Carter.
So, with this done, all that’s left to say is;
Good luck, good darts and good bye.
Yours, TC.
First on the oche was Richard “Tricky Love” Platt against
Neil Parker (The older brother I was told!) and after an uninspiring
first game that Trickster won in 24 darts with only 1x100 was scored,
the match burst into life with top scoring from both players. Next leg
and Neil had a great leg going out in 16 darts 30,98,180,123,38,32/1
despite Tricky sitting on 40 after hitting some great scores of his
own 81,96,140. 1-1 and Neil continued the great form 96,121,97 finishing
72/3 to take the leg in 18 darts. Tricky Love dug deep in the next leg
to level things up with 2x140 and the leg in 20 darts. 2-2 but Neil
failed to hit the high scoring he had in previous legs with only 81
and 83 to show for his efforts, Tricky hitting 100,83,140,98 settled
the issue in 18 darts for the match 3-2. Great game Tricky Love 4x140
3x100 24.47avg Neil (The eldest brother) 1x180 3x100 21.78avg
Next up, everybody’s
favourite - “Chunky” Coyle starting well against Simon Healey
140,85,100,96 before finishing the leg in 18 darts – Simon with
a lowly 85 was a little adrift but found his range in the next leg to
finish in 27 darts clocking 96/3 after Danny had hit 100,180 and wired
a few doubles. Third leg and Chunkster Boy started well again 81,140,100,100
against Simon’s 140,100, Danny finally finishing off the leg in
24 darts. Fourth leg and Danny again hit big scores 100,140 before smacking
in a 146 finish to take leg in 18 darts and the match 3-1. Danny 1x180
3x140 5x100 1x146F 23.83avg Simon 1x140 1x100 19.51avg
Third game and
up dawdles “Gollum” fresh from his fag break to miss buying
a round of drinks against Douggie Thompson, leaving his wife and family
in Blackpool while he jaunts off for a darts match – he told her
he was fetching supper! Both players failed to find form in the first
leg, Gollum hitting 87,88,84 while Doug managed 100,84,94 before Neil
won in 26 darts. Next leg and Neil hammered in some great scores 140,
78,96,97 then took out 16/2 for 20 darts after Doug had rattled in a
134 to leave a finish. Third leg and it was Douglas who showed great
determination powering in 82,180,81 then taking the leg in 19 darts
with Neil sat on 72 after hitting 2x100. Fourth leg and Neil powered
the leg in only 13 darts 180,140,89,80,12/1 despite Doug scoring well
100,81,100. Neil 1x180 2x140 2x100 avg25.09 Doug 1x180 3x100 22.72avg
Fourth match up
saw Jason “Victor” Gilbert taking on his old buddy Glenn
Cullen. Jason was straight into his scoring 95,95,100, but missed double
19 for a 115 finish and in popped Glenn to take the leg in 24 darts
after hitting 125,100 to get him into contention. If Glenn stole the
first leg Jason stole the second as Glenn scoring 125,91 missed a few
shot outs and Jason with 100,81,100,101 finished off 16/2 to make it
1-1. Third leg and again Glenn scored well highlighting with 140,87
and steady scoring to take the leg 20, this after 100,100,80 from Jason
and a wired double 8 on a 96 shot out. Next leg and Glenn struggled
to find the 60 bed only registering a 121 with Jason wanting 40 –
Jason scored 100,100,100 before finishing the leg in 20 darts. Match
square at 2-2 and Jason had the darts scoring 140,125,85 against Glenn
who again failed to hit any good scores although they were steady. Jason
took out 50/2 in 17 darts and the match 3-2. Great game again, Jason
1x140 10x100 22.89avg Glenn 1x140 4x100 22.43avg
Last up that little
tinker “Babyface” Platt who was again back to his unbeatable
best – for two legs at least! Dave started with 180,140,95,41,40/1
for a great 13 dart first leg despite Colin hitting 41,81,99,100,140
to leave himself tops. And there was no let up in the second leg, Dave
again 140,100,140,97,24/2 for a 14 dart leg – Colin left back
on 275 and fearing the worst. But Colin showed spirit in the third leg
with 140,85 and popped in 40/2 to make it 2-1 – Dave left on 32
after hitting 2x100. Fourth leg and Dave hit some more great scores
125,100,80,100 taking the leg in 17 darts despite Colin banging in 125,100
in reply. Great game of darts. Dave 1x180 3x140 6x100 30.33avg Colin
2x140 3x100 23.32avg
Not a one sided
game at all despite the 5-0 scoreline and the White Hart will be hard
to beat this season playing like this. Best of luck for the season lads
and see you down your place if it gets reopened!
